ABSTRACT
O Controle Social no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) traduz o resultado da luta histórica dos segmentos sociais na construção do sistema de saúde através da participação da sociedade. O objetivo deste estudo é discutir o processo de participação e mobilização social no SUS, considerando a conjuntura atual, seus entraves, perspectivas e avanços. Os estudos têm ressaltado diversos aspectos que dificultam o exercício do Controle Social, consequentemente são observadas ações que não defendem o bem comum. Todavia, acreditamos que a participação social é uma conquista cuja valorização dos sujeitos e dos direitos deva ser assegurada através de políticas de saúde que atendam os anseios da sociedade.
Consumer Participation in the Unified Health System (SUS) reflects the outcome of the historical struggle of social groups in building a health system through the participation of society. The aim of this study is to discuss the process of social mobilization and participation in the SUS, considering the current situation, the barriers, prospects, and progress. Studies have highlighted several aspects that hinder the exercise of Consumer Participation, hence actions are observed that do not uphold the common good. However, we believe that social participation is an achievement, valuing individuals and rights, which should be guaranteed by health policies that meet the aspirations of society.
